CAIUS

Beloved First Son of the Great Worm, hatched prematurely from his fathers egg amidst crisis. For most of his youth he remained mute and struggled to communicate with all but his beloved Worm, and was raised primarily by the King Captain. He eventually learned to speak, but still struggles with a speech impediment due to his oversized maw of teeth. He cannot read or comprehend technology, and struggles with any non-literal thinking. He has a strict meditation practice, spending a majority of his time alone in his room to keep himself psychically sharp.

Caius is the only crew member capable of communicating with the Worm through their shared language, though her song grows fainter with each passing day. He feels immense guilt and grief over the growing distance between them.

To outsiders, he appears as a charming if not slightly strange young man; his goatness is an after thought.

In private, he is by far the most alien and beastly of all the Great Worms children.

He bears responsibility for feeding the Worm magic via the portal that rips vertically through his midsection. In his post-adolescence, he acts as the primary envoy to any space faring societies the Worm and her Crew may encounter.
